Schedule a consult for more information. Synergy uses a Cadela GentleLASE with an Alexandrite Laser. This is the industry gold standard and superior to the less expensive lasers offered by many of the area spas. We also have the Sciton Laser (YAG) that is recommended for dark skin types
How does it work?
Hair has three cycles of growth. For laser hair removal to be effective, hair needs to be in its growth phase. Multiple treatments are necessary. The laser energy is attracted to melanin then travels down into the follicle. This shuts down the blood supply thereby impairing hair growth. Do not wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams during laser hair removal treatments as intact hair is necessary to facilitate transfer to laser energy. You do not have to let your hair grow out; in fact, we recommend that you shave one to two days before your treatment. Redness and swelling around the hair follicle of the treated area may occur anywhere from 20 minutes to 24 hours after a treatment, which is a typical part of the treatment process.
What kind of hair can we treat?
Almost any area on the body with hair growth may be treated. The hair must have a high melanin production, so blonde, white, gray and red hair will not be affected. Faster results are noted in individuals with fairer skin and darker hair. Individuals with darker skin require treatment with the Sciton (YAG) laser for best results.
How long does it take until the hair is gone?
We include 6 treatment sessions in the cost of our packages. Since the laser affects hair in the growth phase, and not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, it will take multiple sessions at 4-6 week intervals to see results. You should see improvement with each treatment.
Will all my hair be gone?
Our skin consultant can discuss this topic further with a free consultation. 85% or greater reduction in hair is the goal.
Side effects and risks
As with all aesthetic lasers, there are some risks involved in the treatment of any skin type. Burns, hyper- and hypo-pigmentation, and scarring are some of the more severe side effects. Certain lifestyle factors can increase risks such as sun exposure, tanning beds, spray tanning, medications (such as Retin-A and antibiotics) and recent chemical peels. Our medical estheticians will assess any risk factors at the beginning of every treatment as use of the aforementioned risk factors can change with the seasons.
